A new group exhibition has opened at The Bottle Factory, spotlighting south London’s vibrant artist community – reflecting the area’s unique position as a hub for contemporary fine art, where local culture meets global influences.

South Open 3 is the third edition of a now annual open call initiative, from local art platform OHSH Projects, showcasing the work of artists who are based in, or studied in south London.

The exhibition celebrates the creative energy of 24 artists – selected from over 700 submissions received. Spanning a wide array of disciplines—including painting, sculpture, ceramics, installation, and digital media—the works engage with diverse themes such as identity, memory, ecology, cultural symbology, and human experience.

With artists hailing from countries including the United States, Portugal, France, China, Italy, Greece, Spain, and Korea, the showcase highlights south London’s magnetic pull as a global centre for studying and creating fine art.

South Open 3 is the latest exhibition in a new series of activations at The Bottle Factory – our home for makers, creatives and urban industry stalwarts in a restored Victorian warehouse, tucked away off the Old Kent Road.

The exhibition is open Thursday – Saturday, 12:00 – 17:00, until 8 February, or by appointment.

The 24 artists selected each bring their unique cultural perspectives, fusing them with the distinctive character of south London’s art scene to produce works that are both locally grounded and globally resonant.

This exhibition is not just a testament to the creativity of its participants but also a celebration of south London as a dynamic crossroads where artists from across the world come to live, learn, and make.
