VEIL – an exhibition showcasing the work of revered UK artist Justin Mortimer  – opened at The Bottle Factory at the start of October to coincide with Frieze Art Fair.

The second exhibition curated by local nomadic art platform OHSH Projects at The Bottle Factory, this solo show presents a new body of work from the artist, known for his surreal oil paintings, all of which were developed in his nearby studio on the New Kent Road, where he has been based for over a decade.

VEIL is the latest in a new series of activations at The Bottle Factory – a formerly neglected Victorian warehouse, tucked away off the Old Kent Road, that we have brought back to life for a growing community of makers, creatives and urban industry stalwarts, protecting space for manufacture and creativity in an area rich with industrial heritage.

The exhibition runs through to 3 November and is accompanied by a programme of events, including an ‘In Conversation’ with the artist and a Life Drawing workshop. More details here.

“We carved out a permanent event and exhibition space at The Bottle Factory to shine a light on the creative talent and important industrial heritage of the Old Kent Road and this special part of south east London.

Having the opportunity to showcase the work of an internationally revered artist like Justin Mortimer – whose studio happens to be a short hop away on the New Kent Road – in his first solo show since 2019, is a total privilege.”
