Symes Mews
Symes Mews was the perfect space to host NLA – the leading forum for discussion, debate and information about architecture, planning and development – for a timely conference on the retrofit agenda in February 2022.
The event brought together an audience of over 100 to hear from speakers – including Deputy Mayor for Environment and Energy Shirley Rodrigues – on the opportunities and barriers of retrofitting in London.
Invaluable technical guidance was presented, from the LETI Retrofit Guide to the Retrofit London Housing Action Plan, as well as in-depth project case-studies.
The recently refurbished and extended Symes Mews was the backdrop – our 100 year-old former furniture warehouse transformed, with PH+ Architects, into three floors of BREEAM ‘Very Good’ creative office space in Camden Town. Exactly the sort of overlooked project we love to bring back to life.
“Retrofit London is of a scale that makes it a nationally important infrastructure project.”
