Roots in the Sky – our radical reimagining of Blackfriars Crown Court – has been announced as the winner in the Unbuilt Category of the New London Awards 2021.
The project, which is now on site, will transform the existing 1960s court building into 400,000 sqft of next gen office space with a 1.3 acre rooftop forest and extensive community facilities and access.
The New London Awards are delivered by NLA in association with the Mayor of London and recognise London’s best projects across all sectors each year. Projects are selected for demonstrating the positive impact that high-quality design, planning and construction can have on people, neighbourhoods and the city.
Roots in the Sky was selected from an extensive shortlist of 31 projects by a prestigious international jury of architecture and urban design experts, including Eleanor Sharpe, Executive Director of Philadelphia’s City Planning Commission.
“There is longing, anticipation and excitement.”
