Wow – what an accolade! TON 1 at Atelier Gardens has been voted Arch Daily’s Best Interior Project in the Building of the Year Awards 2023.

Designed with architects MVRDV, the new state-of-the-art event space has been carefully adapted from a 100-year-old Listed film studio, with a sensitive intervention that preserves the character of the historic building.

An intricate overhead railing and lighting system holds filigree curtains of various colours and finish, allowing the space to be subdivided in myriad ways for events up to 1,000 people, while leaving the original structure completely untouched.

The transformation of TON 1 at Atelier Gardens is the latest milestone in the delivery of our six acre global changemaker campus – a progressive, sensitive and ongoing experiment in reuse and renaturing, breathing new life and purpose into one of Europe’s oldest film studio sites.

The award is a testament to the fantastic project team working alongside MVRDV – Harris Bugg Studio / Hirschmüller Schindele Architects / Drees & Sommer / kpm3 / MKT Engineering
